ABC Wellness & Fitness Center hosted a “Box and Block Party” for KidSave located
in Washington, D.C. We provided several instructor lead group classes i.e Kukuwa,
Boxing, and Boot Camps. Kid Save is a nonprofit organization that seeks permanent
homes for children overlooked for adoption because they are “older” (more than six-years
old) and parents believe they don’t want to be, or can’t be adopted. It is not okay.

Tammy,
The “Box and Block Party” was a huge success!!!
Thank you so much for reaching out to offer this opportunity and for throwing so
many resources into a fun and successful afternoon.
Truthfully, one of the most important aspects of these events is dispelling myths
that so many people understandably have – yes, these kids have challenges but they
are also great kids with incredible potential!
And I was glad to see so many of them warm up as the afternoon went on. Please share
with Joe in particular that the Tommie people got to see Saturday afternoon is a
side of him most people had never seen – and he and his sisters have been in our
program for quite some time. People were blown away by the way they saw him interacting
– especially with your boys, because he was so good with them. That’s good. Some
teens are open to everything we do and people get to know them more fully and more
easily. Others are not. It was important to be able to see another side of that
particular child – who usually limits his interactions.
Drisha is now very focused on boxing – we have already had a fair bit of email traffic
about how we can put a plan together to help her do that.
And yes, we would love to make this an ongoing activity. Thank you!!
Susan
